One important fact often surprises homeowners: mold spores are microscopic particles and they are naturally present in virtually every home. 


They enter through open windows and doors, on clothing, shoes, pets, and through normal air exchange with the outdoors. Finding a few mold spores indoors is normal. the problem is that mold spores sometimes can obtain what is called mycotoxins . Some people are highly allergic to this type of substance and can produce allergic reactions or possibly illness too.

During more than thirty years investigating water damage, one of the biggest challenges I've seen is homeowners assuming everything is fine simply because they don't see a physical manifestation of mold. Unfortunately, some of the worst mold infestations I've investigated were completely hidden until walls or flooring were removed.
